It seems like feng shui is a confusing art that isn’t easily attainable. However, by following these 5 easy steps you can create the basic feng shui that will positively shift the energy in your space.

1. Clear Your Clutter

Make things a bit lighter. Don’t just sweep things under the rug. Do an efficient home cleaning. Get rid of the things you don’t LOVE. Bring out things you do love, or find things to make your home more you. You don’t have to spend a lot of money; you can go to your local thrift shop and find some real gems! Donate the things you decide to get rid of to charity. Remember, someone’s trash is another person’s treasure.

2. Let In The Light

Many people call this chi. This means reaching your true potential and to do this you want to open yourself up. You want to open all the windows, get lighter blinds, and let in the sunlight. Doing this for several hours a day saves on electricity and allows the light you may have lost back into your life.

3. Humidifier/ Diffuser

Clear the air. Find your favorite essential oil and really create the atmosphere you want to live in. Essential oils are the most natural way to deodorize and create aromatherapy. A humidifier or diffuser is the best way to disperse the oils and allow them to remain suspended for hours at a time. When inhaled, the oils are easily absorbed through the lungs. Some of the most popular oils include: Frankincense, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree, and Rosemary Essential Oils. Diffusing these oils can cleanse the air, calm overactive children or insomnia, support respiration and improve immunity.

4. Use The Elements

Use the 5 basic feng shui elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water through color. The wood element is green, the color for health. You want to place green colors or plants in the east area of your house. Fire is represented through reds, oranges, and yellows. Fire represents passion so this color is very important. Place these colors in the south, avoid watercolors like black and blue as to not conflict or put out the fire. Earth colors are light browns and yellows and sandy tones. Earth represents good times and unity. Place these colors in the south for happy gatherings. Metal comes through white or gray colors. Place whites in the west to help with creativity and children. For water, the colors blue and black can represent energy and career growth. Place these colors or items in the north area of your house or in the east to help nourish your wood feng shui.

5. Color for thought…

Remember that colors and items don’t like to compete for your attention, and cluttered colors will cause you stress. Place things in a way that create a smooth transition and communication with one another. This will ease tension and allow the colors and light to begin to heal your life.
