Do’s and Don’ts of Oily Skin

Makeup, dirt, and stress are the main causes of increased oil in the skin. To minimize these factors, check out the do’s and don’ts of oily skin.
  •         DO properly clean your skin
  •         DO hydrate
  •         DO choose makeup wisely
  •         DON’T touch your face
  •         DON’T over wash your face

Proper Tips to Treat Oily Skin

Do’s and Don’ts of Oily Skin   DO Properly Clean Your Skin
  •         Before properly cleaning your skin, it’s important to find the right cleanser. Steer clear of anything containing alcohol and look for formulas that are gentle on the skin. Harsh formulas can easily remove too much oil, causing your skin to become dry. If this happens, you will strip your skin of all its fatty acids. Once you find the right cleanser, you must use it at least twice a day, morning and night. This will balance the oil levels produced in your skin.
      DO Hydrate
  •         Dehydration causes stress glands to produce more oil. There are two ways to hydrate: you can drink the appropriate amount of water each day and/or you can use appropriate skin care products that specifically help to hydrate the skin. Applying a mud mask or a moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid in it can help do the job. These products help free bacteria which results in the elimination of acne.
      DO Choose Makeup Wisely
  •         Another tip pertaining to the do’s and don’ts of oily skin is choosing the right kind of makeup. Particularly, foundations. Thick foundations tend to sit heavy on your skin which greatly blocks and traps bacteria in your pores. When this happens, excessive amounts of oils are produced within the skin and acne can arise overnight. When choosing a foundation, choose a light powder or liquid that allows your skin to breathe throughout the day.
  DON’T Touch Your Face
  •         Your skin will ALWAYS produce oil, especially in your hands. When you touch your face throughout the day, oil transfers from the surface of your hands to the sensitive skin on your face. As a little tip of the do’s and don’ts of oily skin, it’s imperative to watch where your hands are being placed. It’s very natural to hold our head or rest our hands on our face, so be cautious next time you’re at work or school.
  DON’T Over Wash Your Face
  •         Washing your face helps your skin feel smooth and refreshed, however, there is a such thing called “over washing.” When you over wash your face, you strip the natural oils from your face, depriving glands of those oils. The result of this is an increased production of oil, clogged pores, and enlarged pores. Aside from over washing your face, do not scrub your face. Be gentle on the skin when you clean your face in the morning and night and you’ll skin will feel and look much healthier in the long run.
