Hi lovelies! I hope you’re all doing well. Ah, it’s FINALLY October! My favorite month of the year. Yes, I’m one of “those” people. Sometimes I cringe at the thought of how basic it sounds because everyone hypes up Fall, but I truly can’t help myself. It’s the most festive time of the year and I love it. Crisp morning air, crunchy and colorful leaves, knitted sweaters, fuzzy socks, candles, spiced drinks, and pumpkin everything! LET ME LIVE WILL YOU?! I mean the real question is, if you’re not excited – why? I’m especially excited for all the Fall-themed posts I have brainstormed too! If you have any special requests, please let me know!

With the season still in transition, my hair tends have a fit. I mean, cold mornings and warm afternoons – I can’t blame it. Using the right products can be difficult for bipolar weather. And on top of keeping my hair happy and healthy, I try to still being mindful of the products I use as well. I always want to go for something more natural and animal friendly products. Today, I’m reviewing a shampoo and conditioner from one of my favorite brands, ArtNaturals. They are an animal cruelty free, color-safe, sulfate free, paraben free, BPA and SLS free brand that I love! They have a wide range of hair, skin and body care as well as other amazing aromatherapy products. Today, I am sharing my thoughts on their Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. If you’d like to know my thoughts on this product, please keep reading.

Before I get into it, I do want to briefly touch base with you on my hair type and situation. As you may know, my hair is dyed. I’ve had ashy hair for probably a year now so it has been processed multiple times. I also have scalp psoriasis. I suffered from scalp psoriasis for nearly 6 years before finding a product that would keep it tame. I came across ArtNatural’s Argan Oil + Coal Tar shampoo one day while exploring the depths of Amazon (dangerous).

I didn’t think much of it at first because I have literally tried every coal tar shampoo at your local drugstore, numerous topical treatments prescribed from my dermatologist, and freakishly weird home remedies that your great aunt told you to try; everything, and nothing works. But I purchased the ArtNaturals Argan Oil + Coal Tar Shampoo on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It did take a few months, but one day I realized something amazing had happened – I no longer had any scalp psoriasis symptoms! It’s truly an amazing feeling to not have an irritated scalp. Thus, I put so much trust into this brand. Perhaps I should go in depth about that in another blog post! – Note to self.

Anyway, back to what really brings us together today, ArtNatural’s Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. For those of you who fear oils and immediately turn away from anything oil related, WAIT! This is for you. If I’ve learned anything from all the knowledge that Lush has given me about taking care of my body, it’s that oils are not the enemy. They are God sent saviors. Regardless of your skin or hair type, there is an oil out there for you. Argan oil is one of the more popular oils known to people. If you’re not familiar with it, below is a little break down of the benefits! And then I’ll get into the review so please keep reading!

Benefits of argan oil:

High in vitamin A, C, and E. Loaded with antioxidants, linolec acid and omega-6 fatty acids, helps promote cell production and healthy hair growth, can help eliminate dandruff and dry scalp, can protect your hair from heat or heat styling tools, can help tame frizz and flyaways, and repair split ends.

The Breakdown

ArtNaturals Argan Oil Shampoo and conditioner retails for $15 each.

Hair Type: sensitive and oily scalp, processed hair, coarse with dry ends.

Claims: Animal cruelty free, sulfate free, paraben free, BPA and SLS free. Uses organic Moroccan oil, keratin, botanical extracts, antioxidants, and vitamins to “reinvigorate, strengthen, smooth, and shine” hair. Helps with dry, flaky scalp, dandruff, frizz, flyaways and split ends.

Texture: Shampoo – Suds well and cleanses hair without drying. Conditioner – Thick and creamy. I probably wouldn’t recommend it if you have very thin, fine hair, unless you use it in moderation and at the bottom, not focusing on the scalp.

Scent: The shampoo smells nice and refreshing, like fresh linen. The Conditioner has a much more mellow scent, sort of nutty and doesn’t stay in the hair.

Effectiveness: Shampoo – 5/5 I love the shampoo! Smells amazing. Feels great. Very cleansing without being stripping. Gets all the collected dry shampoo out of my hair after a long week. Conditioner – 2/5 Not my favorite. Unfortunately, it wasn’t moisturizing enough for my hair color treated. I think it would be great for someone who had less-damaged or not processed, normal hair. But for someone who has been ashy/grey for almost a year, it didn’t do enough.

Packaging: Sturdy, sleek and simple.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes! I love the brand, and even though the conditioner didn’t work well with my hair, that doesn’t mean it won’t work well on yours! Definitely give this brand a go.
